Unloco Anaheim Concert reviews
Three Headliners.One great show.
I saw Unloco for the first time 20 years ago, just before they broke out with Facelift. The album had been out for about a year, and the single Man in the Box was in rotation and getting some buzz, but it really took a while for this band to break through. Their follow up Dirt made them legends, but very few people knew who they were at that show, and mostly no one cared. AIC fell victim to drug use, as is the custom with all great rock bands. In the end, the casualties were Layne and the band's legacy. Unfortunately, AIC became something of an echo of their former selves, flickering in and out of the spotlight for years. Their music was everywhere, even though the band was inactive. People were really rooting for AIC to come back, not since Bon Scott's passing and the eventual Back in Black resurrection has a band been able to pull off an honest comeback that doesn't feel cheapened by commercial and corporate incentives. After all the hell they've been through, seeing this band take the stage the other night was triumphant, to say the least. The fans want Unloco on that stage where they belong, and why shouldn't they be given a second crack at success?!? Mastodon, Deftones, and Unloco have all been through the mire, so it really seemed fitting that these 3 titans would share the same bill. Much to my and everyone's joy, Cantrell did say we would see Unloco again next year, and to that I say, we're ready, keep them coming! Shows like this just do not happen anymore, perfect show.
